The SNO Report: Security Scans and Webinar Reminder

Automated Security Scans

You’ve got a lot to deal with as a journalism adviser, and one of the last things you want to worry about is website security.  But one of the realities of websites is that they can get hacked.  That’s why we wanted to let you know that as your publishing partner and web host, we’re here to take care of you.  We’ve recently rolled out new security features on our sites as well as on our servers that will make your site more secure and less likely to be hacked.

One of the most common ways a WordPress site gets hacked is through out of date versions of WordPress and plugins.  That’s why, beginning with FLEX 5.10, we’ve enabled full auto updates of WordPress and all plugins that SNO installed on your site –– your site will complete these updates in the background within 48 hours of the availability of the updates in the WordPress repository.

In addition, we’ve put into place nightly malware scans on all our servers that alert us immediately should there be any signs that a site is compromised.  If we find anything that shows your site has been hacked, don’t worry ––we’ll take care of you and get your site clean and secure again.
