You still have time to earn Distinguished Site status
There’s still time…
As the weather starts to look more like spring, we know many of you are beginning to think about graduation, summer, and other end-of-the-school-year events. However, we hope you don’t forget that Distinguished Site badge submissions are open until Friday, May 29.
We like to send this reminder around this point in the school year because, if you haven’t started yet, there’s still time to earn some (or even all!) of the badges. However, certain badges do require advance planning. Specifically, the Audience Engagement badge requires posting on a social media account for 20 consecutive weekdays, regardless of holidays or school breaks. Now is the perfect time to plan those posts!
The badge guidelines can be found in the SNO Badges tab on your site’s dashboard. You can also get a more in-depth explanation of each badge’s guidelines in the video overviews below:
- Best of SNO (the writing badge)
- Audience Engagement
- Continuous Coverage
- Story Page Excellence
- Site Excellence
- Multimedia
If you’re looking for examples of sites that earned Distinguished Site status during the previous school year, you can view all of last year’s winners on SNO’s Award Winners page.
If the digital badges themselves aren’t inspiration enough, remember that any site that earns Distinguished Site status by earning all six badges will be included on next year’s Award Winners page and will receive a wood-mounted plaque, a letter to the principal, and a press release highlighting their achievement.
We hope this message inspires new sites to submit for badges for the first time and reminds current participants that the clock is ticking. We look forward to seeing your incredible work before May 29.
Happy badging!
