virtual training workshop for journalism students.
When?
Four Session Options
All sessions are currently full. Please submit a support ticket if you’d like to join the waitlist, and be sure to include the dates you’d like to be waitlisted for.
June 15-16 (Monday – Tuesday)
June 29-30 (Monday – Tuesday)
July 14-15 (Tuesday – Wednesday)
July 22-23 (Wednesday – Thursday)
Each session is limited to 20 students.

What topics will be covered?
We’re glad you asked! Here is a general overview we put together, outlining some of what we’ll be talking about during the workshop. (Click to view)
What is the schedule like for each day?
The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (CDT) with a one-hour break for lunch each day.
Periodic breaks will be provided throughout the day as needed.
Please note these times are listed in Central Time. Make sure to adjust accordingly for your time zone!
What level of site access will students need?
Prior to the workshop, each attendee needs administrator level access on the site in order to fully participate in all workshop activities.
What materials do students need?
Students will need a computer with Zoom and reliable internet access. They will also need administrator level access to the site (see previous question).
Many attendees recommend using two screens if possible — one to view the Zoom meeting and one to view the website.
Do students need any prior SNO knowledge for the workshop?
Prior to the workshop, students should know how to do the following:
- Log into the website
- Create or edit their Staff Profile
- Draft a basic Story (headline, byline, text, and featured image)
We will briefly review each of these concepts at the beginning of the workshop, but they will not be covered in depth.
Can multiple students from the same school attend?
Yes, but attendance is limited to no more than three students per school to ensure there’s space for everyone!
