The SNO Adviser Academy is a comprehensive,
in-person training workshop for journalism advisers
of all experience levels.
Whether you’re brand new to SNO or a seasoned veteran,
our training expert will meet you where you’re at and take you to the next level.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul
You’ll join SNO trainer Alex McNamee each day at SNO’s brand-new office in the first-tier Minneapolis suburb of St. Louis Park.

For 2-1/2 days of hands-on training.
Fees are due May 31 and do not include transportation, meals or lodging.
The Virtual Option
If for any reason the in-person workshop isn’t for you, we’re offering
the SNO Adviser Academy as a two-day virtual workshop ($175) with
all of the same great training as the other one. Become a SNO expert
from the comfort of your own home.

FAQs
What is the schedule like for each day?
Our in-person Adviser Academy is organized around travel, which is why it’s scheduled Tuesday to Thursday. Use Monday before your workshop to travel to the city. From there, we’ll get started by 9 a.m. each day and wrap by 4 p.m. (except on Thursday).
On Thursday, we will be done by noon, giving you ample time to travel home that afternoon or whenever it is that you want to end your stay.
Do I need to rent a car?
It’s your choice! Ride sharing services, like Uber and Lyft, are plentiful in the metro, to quickly pick you up from the airport and take you wherever you need or want to go each day. It’s about a 20-minute ride, without traffic, from the airport to our office.
If you do rent a car, our office complex has free parking on site, and you won’t be fighting for a spot.
What materials do I need to bring?
Bring something to take notes on and bring a laptop and power cord. We’ll cover a lot of ground and devote a lot of time to working hands-on with your own website. We’ll provide the WiFi in house.

Can I earn professional development credits for this?
You bet! We’ll be providing 17 hours of training at the in-person workshop (12 for the virtual workshop) and send you home with a certificate as evidence that you made it through successfully.
