SNO announces new program to recognize online excellence

We’ve seen some incredible work created by student journalists using the SNO platform, and we want to help you brag about it.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce the launch of SNO Distinguished Sites, a program that recognizes news staffs for meeting standards in online scholastic journalism.

Not a contest with winners or losers, the SNO Distinguished Sites program will recognize all sites that meet a set of standards in six core areas:

  • Continuous Coverage
  • Site Excellence
  • Story Page Excellence
  • Excellence in Writing
  • Multimedia
  • Engagement

When a site meets or exceeds all of the standards in a core area, a badge will be displayed on the SNO client list next to that publication name.  Once a site earns badges in all six core areas, it will be designated as a SNO Distinguished Site. (We’ll also send you an important sounding press release and a fancy certificate suitable for framing.  If you’d like, we’ll even send a letter to your principal or PR department.)

If you’re a new program and just starting out, you can use these standards to chart your course.  If you’re an experienced program already doing these things, then what are you waiting for?  Apply for your badges today.

Submissions will be accepted through May 1, 2014, and your badges will be published on our client list as soon as we review your site.
